Valentine's

This year for Valentine's Day we did the same Valentine's for the kids - again, 3rd year in a row.  I figured it was my last chance, since they were all at new schools this year (again!).  I maybe should have stopped with last year, when it was still creative and cool - each of my kids had someone in their class this year with a similar valentine. Oh, well.  I should have suspected as much, with how much I saw it on Pinterest.  Here's their cute faces I used:

I also was the teacher for Joy School that day, so I got to have the Joy School Valentines party at our house.  No valentines party is complete with out decorating sugar cookies.

We also made some cute valentines holder's out of paper plates, and made a  cute hand print craft in the shape of a heart to give to the moms.

2 hours really does fly by with 6 3/4 year-olds!  Sam was able to be home to help me out for the first part - he had to pick up some colleagues at the airport, so it made things nice.  I've decided to send Olivia to preschool next year (same set up Noah had the year before kindergarten - a friend in the area is teaching in her home).  Days like the valentines party remind me what I love so much about doing a co-op group.

Valentines day

A few fun/funny things about this Valentine's:

A friend in the ward had a great craft night at her home where she taught us how to make these wreaths:

I got out my banner from last year:

And figured it would be fine to do the same style of Valentine's I used for the kids last year.  New schools, new friends:

I think I earned myself spacey mom of the year award when I confused the days for Noah's Valentine's party, and didn't realize it until I picked him up from school with a bag of Valentine's from his friends.  Thankfully he was not phased by it, and was perfectly happy to bring his on the next school day.  Silly mom.

And I put together a cute little treat for the kid's teachers too (gotta love the dollar spot at target!):

I made cupcake pops in the shape of a heart, and they turned out super cute. I used a heart cookie cutter to form the cake ball into a heart, and then I just stuck a little heart sprinkle on the front.

And Sam brought home these:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Party

We just finished up our first of 3 Valentine's parties for the week.  I think it was a success - there were cookies and candy, and I don't think we had any crying kids!  The kids all decorated some valentines boxes, exchanged valentines, played a few valentines games, and decorated some cookies.  I didn't get too many pictures, but here's a couple:

Here are some of the kids decorating their boxes. Noah and Harrison ended up doing theirs without help - I was trying to hold down the fort in a general kind of way, so I think my kids got a little neglected. At one point I realized I hadn't seen Olivia for a few minutes. When I peeked around the corner, she was dumping valentine's candy out of boxes in an attempt to get some.
The poofy balls hanging from the ceiling were made for Harrison's Valentine's party.  Which is yet to come.  It's from Martha Stewart - super simple, and cheap for decorations.

Passing out the valentines - I didn't think this one through too well, so it was mass chaos.  Although I'm not sure you can avoid mass chaos when there are 10 kids ages 2-6 involved.  Not to mention a few mischievous toddlers wandering around :)

Happy Valentine's Day

We've had a good Valentine's Day so far - roses, chocolates, cards, and being around people we love.  My Mom just left today - she came for a short visit following a business trip to the area. She was a great help in putting together a bunch of Valentine's - since we got snowed in all week last week, all the Valentine's parties got postponed.  We're having a preschool party here tomorrow, then Noah has his other preschool party on Tuesday, and Harrison we'll finally get his party on Friday.  So it will feel like Valentine's Day for a while longer around here.  And I think that's a good thing.

Valentines

This is what Valentines looked like at our house. Heart shaped pizza and roses. And one happy family! I couldn't ask for anything more.
