Trip to AZ

While Sam was living it up in San Fransisco, eating out every meal, I was driving through the desert with two tots in the back seat to go visit cousins in Arizona. Despite the seven hour drive and 110 degree heat, we had a great time there. Harrison and Noah loved getting to know their cousins, Adam, Abby, Mark and Jack, better and loved swimming in their pool. The trampoline was also a major attraction, as were the copious amounts of otter pops they consumed trying to keep cool.
To be honest, the drive really wasn't too bad. A good friend of mine lent us a DVD player, so the boys were really good for almost the whole drive. And an amazing play-place at Carl's Jr. in Yuma Arizona made the perfect mid-way pit stop on the way there and the way home. Sam joined us on Thursday night, and made the weekend easier for me - and the drive home a lot better.
The heat was also amazingly bearable. The only times it really got to me were when I had to go somewhere in the car in the middle of the day. I noticed that no one in Arizona seemed to own a black car - except me! But we had our AC serviced right before we left, so once we got going, it cooled down pretty quickly. And AC in the house makes a big difference.
Adam, Abby, Mark and Jack were truly enjoyable to be around. They were so sweet to Harrison and Noah, and I only wished we lived closer than 7 hours away so they could play together more often! Sara and Adam were great hosts! It was fun to get to know them better while we were there. We hope to return the favor someday.
