He Graduated!

No, not Sam. Harrison. Harrison recently completed a 5 week long preschool at Clairemont High School. He had a great time playing with friends (new and old), reading books, singing songs, dancing, and most of all, eating great (at least in his eyes...) snacks. For me it was a nice break (4 hours, 3 days a week) and a good opportunity to spend some one on one time with Noah. Despite having to get up early (I had to wake the boys up on most preschool days to get there on time at 7:30) Harrison and I loved it while it lasted. But now that it's over, I think everyone enjoyed the fact that the boys slept in until 7:30 today, and we were able to have a nice relaxed breakfast with out having to rush off to school.

The Hungry Love Seat

We said a sad good-bye to our love seat last week. Well, maybe not so sad - it did take up a pretty big percentage of our living space (yes, our apartment is that small.) and I finally talked myself into letting it go. Now that it is gone, I am not missing it one bit. Our apartment feels twice as big, and I love that I don't have to move the computer chair every time I want to go from the "family room" to the "dining room".

A couple days before we sold the couch, I was getting it all cleaned up in preparation for taking this picture to post a for-sale sign. As I put the cover on one last time, I reached into the back of the couch to reattached the cushions when I felt a palm sized hard plastic object. At first I thought it was one of the boys many cars, but when I pulled it out, to my great astonishment, it was our remote control we lost 3 1/2 years ago. The crazy part is we must have searched around in that couch that very same way half a dozen times when the remote first went missing, and never found it. And it reminded me, about six months ago, Sam pulled a wallet from the couch. Now to give you a little background on where this couch came from: Sam helped a woman from our ward move about 5 years ago (when we first moved to San Diego). She was getting rid of her couch and love seat, and gave them to us (couch covers and all) free - which was perfect because at the time we had camping chairs in our front room. So fast forward 5 years, we were again looking for some lost object (I can't even remember what it was this time...) and Sam pulls a wallet from that couch. At first I assumed it was one of the many play wallets the boys have. But upon closer inspection, it belonged to a 1995 graduate of Clairemont High School. The wallet was complete with student ID, blockbuster card, and a girl's phone number.

Now that the couch is gone, I can't help but wonder what else it ate while it was at our house, only to be discovered years later by its future owners. I'm just glad we retrieved our remote only the day before we passed it on....

Internet Celebrity

Line up for your autograph. I am proud to announce that my picture was featured on Fark. Knowing Fark, it was not mentioned in a positive light. But hey, any publicity is good publicity, right? Anyways, I think it's pretty funny, because the image is only posted online in one place on my webpage, whose traffic is low. I mean, not even Google found it! But apparently someone did (and posted it). So here it is. Me and Elder Johnson smiling away in Bangkapi Thailand.

Let my people go

So, I have started the old testament this year. After finishing the New Testament, it is my goal to finish the old testament. I have never read it all through. Don't feel bad for me, I've read significant portions in various Sunday School classes and what not. But I've always wanted to read it front to back. I write about this today because I finished Exodus. I was really impressed with Moses. I don't know how to express it, but I loved the first few chapters of Exodus. Moses was amazing.
