Harrison has become a bookworm lately. He devours books. We have to go the the library at least once a week to replenish his supply of books (his latest faves are the Nate the Great books and Frog and Toad series) and has started to complain about going to preschool, because he'd rather stay home and read...
But, while his reading has taken off, I had failed to notice that Noah, too, has made strides toward reading. He also loves the Frog and Toad books, and the other day he came to me asking me to read one to him. He opened the book and pointed to the first word, "Frog" and said, "I think it says 'frog.' See ffffroggggg," emphasizing the f and g sounds as he slowly said the word and pointed to the letters. He quickly picked up on the word Toad as well, and would read the words frog and toad whenever we came to them. The next morning at breakfast I listened to him repeat his name several times listening closely to the sounds the letters made as he said it each time. He's known how to spell his name for a while now, and I could see confusion building on his face until he finally asked, "Mom, where's the W in my name? No-wah. No-wah. See? It says 'wah'. Where's the W?"
